The Brief

RPM had carried out some renovation work to Lara and Ken's property in Watford nearly 5 years ago. When they moved to the bungalow we were asked over for a cup of tea and to take a look at what we thought could be achieved. The building was in need of serious renovation. We began drawing out a very large extension maintaining the exterior walls and going up to a 1st floor and even spoke of a basement. After pricing the huge extension we believed it would be possible to flatten and build a new house for a better price and in the end that's what we did.

The Work

We have worked along side this specific architect on many projects in the past and admire his vision. We worked with him and the customer to complete the project to the highest spec. It was important that we kept within the planning regulations and ensured the property sat well amoungst the others in the road. There had been some sacrifices due to budget but also some sensible add ons as requested by the customer.

The Result

Using the additional footprint we managed to create a lower ground floor kitchen/dining room with skylights and bifolding doors opening out onto the garden. This was originally lost space due to the angle of the hill the plot sat on. Using Velfac windows the customer enhanced the amount of light into the property by having slimline frames and maximum glass giving a feeling of space throughout the whole property. From a 3 bed 1 bath bungalow, in need of renovation, we have now created a 4 bed 3 bath with added amenity space for this growing family.

We just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone at RPM. We absolutely love our shiny new house...and best of all, it was delivered on time and on budget.

Kevin, Luke and the crew made the whole thing look easy, so much so, we may just do it again one day.

Despite their dubious taste in music, we actually miss not having them around. Cheers guys!
