The Brief
We were appointed to carry out ground floor extension, internal alterations and new garage space to maximise the living space on this plot.
The Work
At excavation of footings stage we came across a large amount of roots within the footing and the building inspector requested a huge depth of 2.4 metres which changed the specification of the job. We imported much larger plant and groundworks heave prevention as there were large risks at that depth.
Once concreted and out of the ground everything went according to plan and the project moved along quickly. The speed of the work was mainly assisted by the quick decision making of Moira and Ian. As you can see by the images there were some interesting angles to work with in the pitch of the roof. We had to ensure that the products we used would not eat up to much head space whilst still maintaining high levels of insulation.
The Results
Ian and Moira Morrison were very pleased with the final results and the extension has opened the house up greatly. It was a pleasure to work with them on this project. We remain close friends to this day and await their phone call for the next project!
